Everbloom Montessori offers a Children’s House Montessori program in Grand Rapids designed for children ages 2 years 9 months through 6 years old. This stage of Montessori education supports preschool and kindergarten-aged children as they develop independence, concentration, academic foundations, and social responsibility within a carefully prepared environment.

Children’s House is the Montessori classroom designed for early childhood learners. In this mixed-age environment, younger children learn by observing older peers, while older children strengthen leadership and empathy through mentorship and collaboration.

The Montessori Children’s House emphasizes:

  • independence and responsibility

  • early literacy and math foundations

  • practical life skills

  • social-emotional development

  • concentration and self-directed learning

This approach allows children to progress at their own pace while building strong academic and personal skills.

Learning & Development in Children’s House

Our Children’s House program supports the whole child through integrated learning experiences that combine academics with social and emotional growth.

Children engage in:

  • language development and early reading

  • foundational math concepts

  • science and cultural exploration

  • practical life activities

  • sensory-based learning

  • collaborative problem-solving

Montessori materials encourage repetition, mastery, and confidence while helping children develop a deep understanding of concepts rather than memorization alone.

Mixed-Age Learning Environment

The Montessori mixed-age classroom is a defining feature of Children’s House. Children remain in the same environment for multiple years, allowing them to build stability and develop leadership over time.

Benefits of mixed-age learning include:

  • peer learning and mentorship

  • stronger social skills

  • increased independence

  • long-term relationships with educators

  • opportunities for leadership and collaboration

This structure supports both academic growth and emotional development.

Preparing Children for Kindergarten & Beyond

Children’s House prepares students not only for kindergarten but for long-term success as independent learners. Montessori education helps children develop strong executive functioning skills, problem-solving abilities, and confidence in their own learning process.

By the time children leave Children’s House, they typically demonstrate:

  • independence in daily routines

  • strong concentration and work habits

  • early academic confidence

  • emotional regulation and empathy

  • curiosity and intrinsic motivation

Teacher-to-Child Ratio

Everbloom Montessori maintains a 1:10 teacher-to-child ratio in our Children’s House classrooms. This balance allows educators to provide individualized guidance while fostering independence and group collaboration.

The ratio supports focused learning, careful observation, and meaningful relationships between children and guides.
